Ground Source Heat Pumps: Absorbing Heat from the Ground

Since the surface temperature is less affected by the atmosphere, its temperature is maintained at 16-18 degrees all year round (subject to the actual place), which is much higher than the outdoor temperature in winter and lower than the outdoor temperature in summer.

Therefore, the ground source heat pump system with the ground source as the cold and heat source,

Not only breaks through the technical barriers of traditional air conditioning systems,

It also greatly improves the operating efficiency of the air conditioner.

How does the Ground-source Heat Pump works?

Taking heating in winter as an example,

The compressor in the ground source heat pump unit does work on the refrigerant,

And through the four-way valve, the flow direction of the refrigerant is reversed.

The heat in groundwater or soil is absorbed by the underground water circulation,

Through the evaporation of the refrigerant in the refrigerant/water heat exchanger,

Absorb the heat in the water circuit into the refrigerant,

While the refrigerant is circulating, it passes through the condensation of the refrigerant in the refrigerant/air heat exchanger,

The heat carried by the refrigerant is absorbed by the air circulation.

In the process of continuous transfer of heat from the ground to the room,

The room is heated by forced convection, natural convection or radiation.

What is the Advantages of the Ground-source Heat Pumps?

Advantages: It is suitable for areas with rich geothermal resources, such as some Nordic countries.

Disadvantages: It needs to drill holes and go deep into the underground pipe, the engineering is complicated, and it is easy to form frozen soil by absorbing heat from the ground for a long time.
