AIR-COOLED / OUTDOOR PROCESS SYSTEMS
PRODUCT CATEGORY / 02 · AIR-SIDE HEAT REJECTION
Air Cooled Chiller for outdoor process cooling.
Select a self-contained chiller when the project needs air-side heat rejection without a cooling tower. Capacity, input power and available operating range are confirmed at the specified maximum outdoor dry-bulb temperature, chilled-water duty and installation conditions.

SITE-FIT DECISION STRIP
Is air-side heat rejection the right project route?
Use these four checks before comparing nominal capacity or unit price.
No cooling tower
Air-cooled units reject heat through fans and finned coils, removing the condenser-water loop, cooling tower and associated water-treatment scope.
Design dry-bulb temperature
Capacity and input power depend on the site maximum outdoor ambient condition. State the project design ambient before comparing models.
Outdoor airflow clearance
Roof or ground location, intake and discharge clearance, recirculation risk, service access and sound constraints must be reviewed before placement.
Packaged chilled-water scope
Pumps, buffer tank, glycol protection, valves and controls are confirmed from the required chilled-water loop and installation scope.
AIR-COOLED MANUFACTURER OVERVIEW
One package. No condenser-water loop.
GESON supplies air-cooled screw, scroll and packaged chiller configurations for industrial process cooling and commercial HVAC projects. The configuration is selected around the required duty, outlet temperature, installation environment and project scope.
Air-cooled heat rejection can simplify the site arrangement where a cooling tower and condenser-water circuit are not preferred. The final unit must still be reviewed for maximum ambient temperature, airflow clearance, sound, chilled-water loop and electrical supply.

Four checks before the unit reaches site.
Air-cooled chillers simplify heat rejection, but they still need the right ambient data, airflow clearance and chilled-water package scope.
- 01
Map the heat-rejection environment
Confirm the maximum design ambient, altitude, nearby exhaust air, sun exposure, dust and seasonal operating pattern.
- 02
Plan equipment placement
Reserve roof or ground loading, lifting access, air intake and discharge clearances, drainage and maintenance space.
- 03
Define the chilled-water package
State water or glycol, supply and return temperatures, design flow, pump head, buffer requirement and freeze-protection approach.
- 04
Confirm the selected operating point
Review the final model’s capacity, input power, sound, refrigerant, electrical supply and accessory scope in the technical submittal.
SELECTION DOSSIER
Air cooled chiller information for a defensible selection.
Capacity, chilled-water temperature, refrigerant, compressor, ambient conditions, condenser and installation requirements should be reviewed at the same defined operating point.

SELECTION FAQ
Questions buyers ask before specifying an air cooled chiller.
Answers are based on the current GESON Air Cooled Chiller content and should be confirmed against the final model-specific selection.
01What is the price of an air cooled chiller?+
Air cooled chiller pricing depends on cooling capacity, compressor type, refrigerant, and any special requirements. Air cooled chillers are generally less expensive than water cooled chillers of the same capacity due to the simpler system — no cooling tower or condenser pump is needed. Contact Geson with your design conditions for model selection, technical review and quotation.
02What compressor brands does Geson use in air cooled chillers?+
Geson air cooled chillers use Copeland, Hanbell, Bitzer, Danfoss, Invotech, and FUSHENG compressors depending on capacity and application. Copeland and Danfoss scroll compressors are used in smaller units (2RT–100RT); Hanbell and Bitzer screw compressors are used in larger units (50RT–300RT).
03Do air cooled chillers need a cooling tower?+
No. Air cooled chillers reject heat directly to the outdoor air via the condenser fan — no cooling tower, no condenser water pump, and no water treatment system is needed. This makes installation simpler and significantly reduces upfront cost compared to water cooled systems.
04What is the maximum ambient temperature for a Geson air cooled chiller?+
Standard Geson air cooled chillers are designed for ambient temperatures up to 43°C. A high-ambient design is available for installations in climates up to 50°C — this requires a specially configured condenser and fan system. Always specify your maximum ambient temperature when requesting a quotation, particularly for Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia installations.
05What refrigerants are available?+
Available refrigerants depend on the selected compressor, capacity, leaving-fluid temperature, safety code and destination-market regulations. Do not treat one refrigerant as a universal replacement for another. Include the installation country and required design conditions in the inquiry so the factory can confirm a compliant option.
06What is the lead time for a Geson air cooled chiller?+
Standard configurations: 30 working days. Custom configurations or units requiring special components: 45–60 working days. Delivery by sea to most ports worldwide; wooden case packaging with transportation insurance included.
07Can Geson supply a complete system with pumps and tank?+
Yes. Geson supplies complete air cooled chiller packages including the chiller unit, chilled water pump(s), insulated buffer tank, Y-strainers, isolation valves, and integrated electrical control panel — skid-mounted and factory-tested as a complete system. This is popular for customers who want to minimise on-site installation work.
08What is the difference between an air cooled scroll chiller and screw chiller?+
Scroll chillers (2RT–100RT) use multiple scroll compressors in tandem — simpler, quieter, and easier to maintain, ideal for smaller applications with stable loads. Screw chillers (50RT–300RT) use twin-screw compressors with stepless capacity modulation via variable frequency drive, delivering better part-load efficiency for larger applications with variable cooling demand.
09What is the minimum order quantity?+
MOQ is one unit. You can order a single chiller or any quantity required.
